Join us for a discussion with Jess Phillips, Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley.

Jess has been one of the party’s leading lights and most popular politicians since she was first elected in 2015. She was Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding in Keir Starmer's Opposition frontbench from 2020 to 2023. 

Jess has worked with the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice and the Department for Communities and Local Government on issues of Violence Against Women and Girls. She is one of the women who launched the #NotTheCost campaign to combat the violence faced by politically active women, and the Reclaim the Internet campaign, which challenges online abuse. 

Hosted by MHP's Head of Public Affairs Tim Snowball, Jess will discuss: 

  • Her time as the Member of Parliament for Birmingham Yardley for nearly a decade and her work tackling domestic violence amongst many other vital issues. 
  • How she has built a reputation in Parliament and amongst the public as one of our greatest truth-tellers 
  • Her insight on the state of the Labour Party today and the progress since 2019 
  • How to most effectively engage with Labour ahead of a General Election this year (and how not to!)
