2025 MHP x MJA Annual Lecture

In Conversation With Sir Jim Mackey,
Chief Executive of NHS England

The event

MHP's Health team are proud to partner with the Medical Journalists' Association (MJA) to bring you this exclusive event.

This year's address will be delivered by Sir Jim Mackey, Chief Executive of NHS England. Sir Jim Mackey formally began in his role at the start of April following the announcement that the UK Government is abolishing the body. In effect he will oversee the dismantling of the body and handing off its responsibilities to the Department of Health Social Care and other bodies. He has additionally been tasked with the job of improving the service’s financial performance and cutting elective waiting lists.

Sir Jim’s lecture comes just months ahead of the publication of the NHS’ 10 Year Plan which is expected to set out a “bold vision for the future and chart an ambitious course” for the nation’s health service for the coming years and at a time of intense speculation as to the successor structures to NHSE.

Following his address, Sir Jim will take to the stage with Shaun Lintern, Health Editor of the Sunday Times and Chair of the Medical Journalists' Association, to discuss his priorities for dealings with the challenges faced by the NHS.

Key details:

  • Date: Thursday 8th May
  • Time: 6-10pm (The address will begin promptly at 6.15pm)
  • Location: Royal College of Surgeons of England, 38-43 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London

Please be aware, the MJA is a member organisation - if you are a journalist you need to be registered with them to join this event. If you are not a member, someone from the MJA will reach out to you.

We reserve the right to refuse entry.
