## About the event

We are delighted to invite you to **Santander’s [*Fixing the Broken Chain*](https://dam.santander.co.uk/content/dam/publish/media-relations/santander_fixing_the_broken_chain_report.pdf) Panel 2025**, taking place at One Great George Street** on Thursday, 20 November, from 8:30 to 10:00 am**.

This in-person event brings together **policymakers and senior leaders from across the housing sector** to discuss the future of homeownership and the reforms needed to fix the UK’s property transaction process.

The morning will begin with a **networking breakfast**, followed by a **panel discussion and Q&A** exploring the key barriers in the homebuying process - from legal and administrative hurdles to regulatory inefficiencies - and the opportunities to deliver meaningful, lasting change.

The event will also showcase findings from Santander’s new report, *Fixing the Broken Chain*, which reveals that the UK’s outdated home purchase system costs the economy **£1.5 billion annually**, with **over half a million failed transactions** and **23% of buyers** experiencing a property chain collapse. The report calls for coordinated reform to modernise the process and strengthen the housing market for buyers and sellers alike.
